Setting Language & Time Format
After reading this article you'll know where to switch the interface display language, how the workspace's content language works independently of it, and how to set your personal time format to 24-hour or AM/PM.
Univents has three separate settings related to "language" that control different things: the display language of your own interface, the content language your workspace uses for newly created content, and your personal time format. This article shows you where to find each one.
Changing the interface display language
If you want Univents shown to you in German or English — menu items, buttons, and labels — use the small language switcher at the top of the header, visible on every page of your workspace:
- Click the DE or EN label at the top of the header.
- Choose the desired language from the dropdown that opens.
- The page reloads immediately and shows the interface in the selected language.
Your browser remembers this choice (not your user account) for one year — on a different device or browser you'll need to set it again. German and English are currently available.
The choice also survives visiting a German page of univents.app in between, such as a help article or the pricing page. Those pages stay in the language of their address; your interface is not affected.
Setting the content language for new content
Separately from the display language, you set which language new categories, booking questions, booking pages, invoices, and emails are drafted in by default. This setting applies to the whole workspace, not just to you personally:
- Open Settings (gear icon in the left navigation).
- Click the Content language card in the hub (or select Content language in the left settings menu under "Univents").
- In the Account base language field, choose between 🇩🇪 Deutsch and 🇬🇧 English.
- Click Save.
Existing content isn't automatically translated or converted — the setting only affects content created going forward. You can additionally maintain translations in other languages for individual pieces of content.
Setting the time format
On the same Settings > Content language page, you decide whether times in input fields are shown and entered in 24-hour format or 12-hour format with AM/PM:
- Open Settings > Content language.
- In the Time format section, choose between 24-hour (example: 14:30) and 12-hour (AM/PM) (example: 2:30 PM).
- Click Save.
This setting is personal to you, not workspace-wide — every team member can pick their own time format. The same time is always stored internally regardless of the display format chosen; only how it's entered and shown in forms changes.
Frequently asked questions
I want to switch the interface to German — where do I do that? Use the small DE/EN switcher at the top of the header, not the Content language settings page. That page only controls the language of new content and your personal time format.
I can't find a 24-hour time in the input fields. Open Settings > Content language and switch the Time format section to 24-hour. The setting applies immediately to every time input field in your account.
If I set the content language to English, will my interface also switch to English? No. The content language (account base language) only determines the default language of newly created categories, booking pages, invoices, and emails. You set your own interface language independently, via the switcher in the header.
Does everyone in the workspace see the same time format? No. The time format is a personal, per-user setting — everyone can choose 24-hour or AM/PM for themselves, regardless of what colleagues have set.
Are existing invoices or categories re-translated when I change the content language? No. The change only applies to content created going forward. Existing content stays unchanged, though you can still add translations to it manually.
